My School’s philosophy is based on social constructivism: an understanding that all children are capable
and curious about learning. The Reggio Approach is a cornerstone of the children’s learning process at
My School. We believe children have strong potential, interest, and preparedness to construct and
negotiate their own learning through their interactions with peers, adults, and the world around them.
Children do not learn in isolation, but rather in an environment that recognizes the strong
collaboration of three protagonists: teachers, children, and the family/community. We see the
interactions of these protagonists, combined with a stimulating environment, as essential to the growth
and development of children. Together we work as researchers and investigators of knowledge. Through
dialogue, hands on experience, and reflection children internalize knowledge in a lasting way; in a way
that is relevant and therefore more meaningful. We believe internal motivation is a lifelong asset for a
child and gives them an accomplished feeling that any number of external motivators cannot match.
